Halflings are just what their name describes; half werewolf and half vampire. There are not as many of them as there are vampires or werewolves, but there seem to be more of them around these days than there were in the past.
How to Become a Halfling: Becoming a halfling is achieved in a couple different ways. A person is either born with it* or they become one. For a Lycan to become a halfling, they must go through the vampire turning process just as any human would. It is much harder for a vampire to become a Lycan. If they are bitten by a werewolf, it takes a considerable amount of injuries to be sustained to get the same effect as a human transforming into a werewolf. It is impossible for a vampire to contract Lycanthropy through the consumption of meat since, obviously, they do not eat. Vampires can also become a halfling by consuming the blood of a werewolf.
For a human to become a halfling, they must be be changed by a halfling. For the halfling to change the human they must drain almost all of the blood from the body and then let the newly changed halfling feast on some of their blood. Halfling may only change humans when they are in their werewolf form.
* See genetics list Genetics: Even though vampirism is not an inheritable trait, the halfing gene is. When the lycanthrophic virus attacks the DNA of some one with vampirism, the two things become intertwined and therefore become passable traits.
Male Halfling + Female Halfling = Halfling OR Human Child Male Halfling + Female Human = Halfling OR Human Child Male Human + Female Halfling = Human Child Male Lycan + Female Halfling = Child with Lycanthropy OR Halfling Male Halfling + Female Lycan = Halfling Male Vampire + Female Halfling = Child with Lycanthropy OR Human Child Male Halfling + Female Vampire = NO CHILD Male Vampire + Female Lycan = Halfling Male Lycan + Female Vampire = NO CHILD
Characteristics and Abilities: Halflings exhibit characteristics and abilities from both vampires and werewolves. It varies depending on the individual. Some may exhibit traits and abilities more common to Lycans than to vampires and vice versa.*
Aging is something unique when dealing with halflings. They age at a much slower rate than humans and werewolves. The average halfling lifespan is about 120 years, give or take. Their slowed aging process makes them look (and act) younger than they really are. For example, a halfling may be ten years old, but look and act like a seven year old.
The physical complexion of a halfling tends to be very fair skinned with dark eyes. They are not as pale as vampires so they tend to blend into society a bit easier.

Diet and Transformations: Halflings strictly feast on blood and meat. One up side to being a hafling is the ability to eat regular food. Most of the food the consume must contain high amounts of proteins otherwise they can become sick from it.
The lunar cycles cause the transformation of halflings, just like that of the werewolves. Halflings look like werewolves in every way. The only difference is that instead of hunting on their transformed nights, they must obtain only blood to drink, whether it be from human or animal. Halflings generally do not have the mean streak that full werewolves have in their transformed state. A transformed halfling is considerably less dangerous than a transformed Lycan.
Death and Injury: There are a few plants that are toxic to Halflings. They tend suffer reactions in both states. In the humanesque state the develop a horrible rash (similar to poison ivy/oak/sumac) and sometimes they can have trouble breathing, depending on how allergic they are. In their transformed state it stings their skin and can cause them to have coughing attacks that hurt their lungs. These plants include wolfsbane, garlic, wild rose, mountain ash, rye, hawthorn, and mistletoe.
Any type of silver is acidic to halflings, eating away at their flesh. It takes a long time for silver burns to heal (not to mention that they are very painful). Halfings are injured and killed in any way that humans can be injured or killed. Just like werewolves they do not feel as much pain in their transformed state, but compared Lycans and vampires they heal relatively slowly (which is still slightly faster than a human).
